Rock’n Roll is everywhere. Do we dance or do we just watch? Do we lead the dance or do we just let other lead us? Are we able to lead the dance?
A musician is first of all on stage to inspire his audience. Most musicians prefer being on stage instead of being in the studio. Studio is for making money while the stage is to inspire people and create emotions and a goosebumps feeling. Have we unlearned doing this in business? Steve Jobs did exactly this with Apple and this made him great and big.
Rock’n Roll the mindset, the corporate environment and the data we have. Each data point is one person in our audience!
It is our decision if we step on the stage or just go to the studio. At the end of the day we need both. The big money are coming through the studio records but without the emotions and the feeling we create on stage we can’t transform the studio records into money. People are making experience with us by watching us, therefore they love us. Through this trust, empathy, loyalty and much more things are played.
While we are operating in silos we need to step out of the silos. Silos makes it easy to operate and sort things but they don’t help us in a long term transformation. We just adopt things with an old approach, this is translation, no transformation. Transformation means changing the core without loosing our values and what we stand for out of view.
Paul Greenberg wrote in his Empathy 101: “First there’s cognitive empathy, the ability to understand how others are feeling, without feeling those emotions yourself. […] Next there’s emotional empathy, which is the ability to physically feel the emotions of others. Emotional empathy helps us build personal connections with others, but it can be paralyzing. The third category is compassionate empathy. Here we don’t just understand someone else’s predicament and share their emotions. We are also moved to take action and help them however we can.” 1)https://workflow.servicenow.com/employee-engagement/how-to-build-empathy-in-business/
Personally I think compassionate empathy is most important. We need to care about someone and help him as best as we can at the moment of time instead of just showing empathy and following our own interests. With taking care and offer help we will generate loyalty in a way Steve Jobs did it with Apple. People are loyal with the brand and doesn’t look on the price.
Let’s dance
It’s an amazing time, not because of Covid-19. It’s a time where we can make a difference and lead acting in marketing. We have amazing systems available which offers giant possibilities. What we need is to orchestrate them and place them on a right base. It is not about using more and more systems every day, it’s about to do the homework in setting up the right base environment to switch on future things quickly if needed.
With a poor loudspeaker we can dance, but with the right one we feel much better the spirit of the music and our dancing will be with passion and power.
